After going "Ho, Hum" at the pet choices in the Blood Elf starting zones, and after learning that the dragonhawks there are low-stat pets, I visited Petopia and decided to attempt a solo tame of a lvl 10 Ravager Specimen with my lvl 10 Blood Elf hunter (if you're horde,
this is your only chance to get a ravager as far as I know until you get to Outland). It wasn't too hard; here's what I did.
1. Got me a trash pet, bought some meat.
2. Went to Silvermoon City and used
the teleporter in the Spire to port to Undercity (thank heavens you don't have to attempt to get through the plaguelands, lol).
3. Hoped on the Zep to Org.
4. Ran over to the north Barrens.
5. Make your way through Ashenvalle. This is the hardest part, but if you stick to the roads, use your tracking and an occaisional pet sacrifice, it shouldn't be a problem. Remember, you can die and spirit rez at this level without rez sickness, so dying might actually speed your progress (great technique for masochists).
6. Continue on through Darkshore. Mobs roam close to the road, and in some cases, they're still 8 levels above you, so don't let your guard down.
7. When you get to Auberdine, don't approach it...the Sentinels will aggro from a mile away. Cut to
the beach, go around the murlocs and swim around to the Auberdine docks. The ferry to Azuremyst Isle is the previously unused dock...and you can't miss it because the boat is a different model.
8. Swim to a point underwater right under where the Dranei boat stops at the dock. Take off your gear.
9. Drown to death in place. Yes, die.
10. Run back to your corpse, but go through the Auberdine Inn and stay on the docks.
11. When the boat shows up, hop on, and then rez.
12. The boat arrives on the western shore of Azuremyst Isle. You have a long walk to the Northeast corner where the Ravagers are located...but that's okay because the island is a pretty cool place and the mobs aren't
much of a threat.
13. Tame Beast, Feed Pet, and hearthstone out at your leisure. The Ravager Specimen comes with Bite 2 and Gore 2, so once you teach it growl 2, it's ready for action (BTW Ravagers learn dash, as well).
Ravagers
are cool! Gore is an amazing ability...akin to claw, but it half the time, so the DPS is I get a lot of looks and /pat 's when I sport it around Silvermoon City and the Ghostlands. Hope this helps...enjoy. -~Nibbs
